Well, that felt better...
But after that rather long entry, I don't have much to write about Japan. I'll leave you with a brief glimpse of Japan through the eyes of one of their fast food chains, the ever-so amusingly-named Mos Burger, where I had lunch a few days ago. The sandwiches are nowhere near as big as they appear on the website. Oh, yes, and I've found my local coffee shop, which for a mere ¥550 will sell you Cafe Vienna...

In defense of Mos Burger, I would have to say it probably has the best food among the larger fast-food chains in Japan. I mean, if you ever spot a Lotteria, you want to immediately turn around and start walking briskly in the opposite direction -- codfish roe burgers, anyone? Mos Burger, on the other hand, has some really great stuff. Their fries, when done properly, can be exquisite.
Apparently, MOS stands for Mountain-Ocean-Sky and signifies the company president's love of nature...or something like that. From what I hear, the president of Mos Burger actually was an apprentice burgermeister (i.e. manned the grill for a while) at the famous Tommy's (in LA), and wanted to provide the Japanese with a healthier version of the Tommy's formula.
I'm glad you were able to find some cafe vienna. You know, in the old days, they used to call it "wiener coffee", which I guess is accurate, but always left me snickering.
